8.22.010 Proprietor of barbershop defined.
A "proprietor of a barbershop" within the meaning of this chapter, shall be defined to be any person operating one or more barber chairs, where barbering is practiced. (1948 C. Ch. 8 § 1: 1960 C. § 648.010.)
8.22.020 Occupation of barber.
Any person who is engaged in the capacity so as to shave the beard or cut and dress the hair for the general public shall be construed as practicing the occupation of barber. Nothing contained herein shall be construed to affect persons lawfully engaged in the practice of cosmetology and hair dressing in beauty shops. (1948 C. Ch. 8 § 2: 1960 C. § 648.020.)
8.22.040 Closing hours.
No barbershop shall remain open after six thirty p.m. on the following days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday of each and every week. All barbershops shall remain closed on the following holidays: New Years Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. When any of the above-named holidays shall fall on Sunday, barbershops shall remain closed the following Monday. (Ord. 44880 § 1, 1949: 1948 C. Ch. 8 § 4: 1960 C. § 648.040.)

8.22.050 Working on customer after closing hours.
It shall be unlawful for any person engaged in barbering to work on a customer who enters a barbershop after the closing hours prescribed in Section 8.22.040; provided, that nothing in this section shall prevent anyone engaged in barbering from working on customers after the closing hours prescribed in Section 8.22.040 who entered the barbershop before the closing hour and who remained in the barbershop until served. 8.22.060 Liability.
A proprietor of a barbershop, or one practicing barbering within the meaning of this chapter, shall be construed to include the agents and servants of such proprietor as far as the penalties of this chapter and its liabilities thereunder are concerned. (1948 C. Ch. 8 § 6: 1960 C. § 648.060.)
