Animals That Hibernate

Some animals sleep, or hibernate, for part or all of the winter. The staff of the St. Louis Public Library recommend the following:

	Bats Bats may be the most misunderstood animals in the United States.			Bullfrogs Bullfrogs are the largest frog.
	Black Bear Black bears are the bears people most often encounter.			Chipmunks Chipmunks are rodents that live in North America and Asia.
	Black Rat Snake The Black Rat Snake is a proficient climber and often goes high up into trees.			Garter Snake The garter snake is the most widely distributed snake in North America.
	Boreal Toad The boreal toad has been around longer than dinosaurs!			Woodchucks Woodchucks are not large, but they're powerful tunnelers.
