Paper Beads

Materials:

  • Paper: construction paper,
wallpaper, magazine pages, or wrapping paper
  • Round toothpicks or nails
  • Glue
  • String or yarn

Directions:

1. Cut paper into straight and triangular strips. The width, length, and shape of the strip determines the size and shape of the bead.

2. Cover one side of the paper strip with glue, then place the toothpick or nail at one end. For a skinny hole in the bead, use a toothpick. For a wider hole, use a nail.

3. Roll tightly into a compact bead.

4. Remove the nail or toothpick before the bead dries.

Repeat steps 1-4 until you have enough for a necklace, bracelet, or zipper pull. String the beads in the design you want. You can also add other beads, such as pony beads or tri- beads.
